About me
Mrs. Shelly Poage is a current principal at John Tyson Elementary School in Springdale, Arkansas. Mrs. Poage was chosen as the 2019 AAEA Arkansas Elementary Principal of the Year and the 2019 NAESP National Distinguished Principal Award. She earned her Doctorate degree from Harding University. She has graduated from Arkansas Leadership Academy Master Principal Institute. Mrs. Poage has visited schools in New Zealand, Wisconsin, Michigan, Kentucky, California, and Arkansas to study best practices in developing student agency and personalized learning. Since implementing innovative strategies to personalize learning and develop student agency, John Tyson Elementary has been designated as a School of Innovation and recognized by the Arkansas Department of Education as one of the top five percent of elementary schools in the state for student growth, one of the top ten percent of elementary schools in the state for achievement, and by the University of Arkansas Office of Education Policy for student growth.
