With over a decade in education, I have dedicated my career to empowering students and educators through innovation. My journey began teaching 7th–12th grade science at an alternative school in St. Bernard Parish, Louisiana, before making my way up the I-55 and I-49 corridors, eventually landing in the Springdale School District, where I coached speech and debate and fostered real-world communication skills.
Early in my career, I struggled with the idea of letting students take the lead in their own learning. But over time, I discovered my passion: helping students use advocacy and their interests to drive higher-order thinking. Now, as a member of the Office of Innovation for the past three years, I work alongside schools to develop creative, student-centered strategies that engage learners and support teachers. My mission is to help shape the future of education in Arkansas by collaborating with the State Department of Education and other key partners to rethink what’s possible in the classroom.
Join me as we explore innovative approaches to education that put students at the center and empower them to take ownership of their learning.
